Derrell McCraryย is a multi-time FishingNosara Hall of Famer and he added to his resume early in the month with this awe-inspiring Rooster Fish release.
This massive monster was released after the photo. Great catch by Mr. McCrary and excellent fish-handling by Mate Johnson.
The Discoverer nabbed an awesome Sailfish release on May 4.
All smiles for angler Jerry Miller and his group. They returned the next day for more trophy fish releases.
After the sweet Sailfish, they topped off the trophy room with an excellent Rooster fish release.
When the offshore bite is a good as it’s been recently, only a fool would stay inshore and plunk around for little fish…the smart move is to listen to the advice of the long-tenured Captains of FishingNosara and head offshore.
Angler John Grover took heed of Captain Alex’ advice and found the big blue water beasties lurking about a dozen miles from shore.
Three anglers, three bites, three fish-of-a-lifetime (one slipped away after being de-hooked but before the picture). Not bad for just 5 hours work.
Great job by Captain Alex, Mate Wilson and the Harvester!
The offshore bite has been on fire the last few days, and it looks like our Captains’ sharing of knowledge is paying off big time.
The Harvester called up Captain Fico on his phone and let him know that the big action was going on a dozen miles out in the blue water.
Angler Nicholas Grothe was the beneficiary of this action and scored multiple Sailfish releases backed up with perfect-for-eating Yellowfin Tunas filets.
2018 All Star Calgary Flames goalkeeper Mike Smith traded his blocker pads for fishing reels on April 30 and brought his family to Nosara for some excellent blue water action on April 30.

The whole family got in on the action with many excellent catches.
After several big Dorado scores, Mike deployed the flyrod to nabbed another tasty Mahi.
Great work by this fun group of Canadian anglers
The Harvester kept up the pressure on the 29th with a haul that may put the fish market out of business. Look at this whopper of a Dorado:
This was backed up with some smaller but equally tasty Dorados for the kids.
Naturally the mega panga wasn’t leaving without scoring a nice Sailfish release for the scrapbook.
Great job!
John Jones of New York City joined Captain Alex on the 27th and jammed in as much good fishing as possible into their 5 hour trip.
Multiple Sailfish releases are quite memorable, but they didn’t leave empty handed, as a handful of Yellowfin Tunas provided the meat for the dinner table.
Excellent work by these Upper East Side anglers.
Captain Carlos finished the month of April strong with another great Sailfish release.
Wonderful job by the big bad battleship Discoverer
Dan Bowman and his girls had such a good time on the Wanderer on April 19 that he signed up for a return engagement on the morning of April 25 with the Explorer.
Well it turns out lightning can strike twice, as proved by this grand array of fresh fish filets.
For the afternoon session, Captain Fico welcomed Shawn Cline and Philip Yim. They also found great blue water success on the Super Panga.
This super Sailfish release was backed up by more nice Yellowfin Tunas.
Awesome work by Captain Fico and the Explorer.
