River Fishing Report – December 2013

Martin Ramirez (left) and Javier Hernandez led the charge as usual this month.

Local Legend Chimpy also clocked many hours at the river mouth and has these great fish to show for it:

Our old pals Cumi and Manuel also registered excellent Permit and Snook catches at the rio:

Javier also brought along son Dario for a few fishing adventures and brought home some good-eatin’ permits:

Read more and get involved with the cause by visiting the Fuppernos Facebook page and do your part…if you are in town visiting for a few days why not give back to the Nosara community by pitching in on a river clean-up?

Great send off for Craig Sutton as the Explorer produced another legendary Cubera Snapper for the US Rep for FishingNosara.

Like usual, this fish was a ‘day-saver’…after a long day of nothing but Bonitas, this monster took the live tuna off the bottom and gave Craig a heck of a fight.

Great filets are already on the way back to Jacksonville, much to the delight of the US office!

Lori Seiler and her posse of CCA Florida anglers put pressure on the big time reef dwellers on board the Wanderer. Captain William took them to a great bite of fish and the action stayed hot all day long. The first fish in the box was the rare and elusive Yellowtail:

This tasty specimen is excellent table fare and it is unusual to see one of this size.

They followed up with another rare species for our area with two nice Blue Trevally:

We use the phrase “filled the fishbox” kind of loosely around here, but in the first of their three days fishing they literary filled the fishbox:

After that haul the die was cast for some offshore action, and these Florida anglers did not disappoint…how about TWO Striped Marlin released?

They scored some nice Yellowfin tuna backed up by a pair of beefy Dorados. These filets made a perfect addition to the Thanksgiving feast the next day.

Great work by Captain David and one of the true innovators of Garza panga fishing…great work Richmond!

Our great friend Marion Lawler is back in Nosara for another round of deep sea fishing with his sons. The Wanderer was on top of her game as they hunted down a swarm of Dorados and Yellowfin Tunas for the refrigerator.

Marion’s sons got their first crack at blue water fishing with the Wanderer back in July 2012 where they performed brillantly, however clearly their a little more confident this time around:

JULY 2012:

NOVEMBER 2013:

Clearly they have been working on the craft cause they boated these monsters with the smooth precision of professionals.

Great work by this Texas posse! We expert to see these boys again soon.

Lori Seiler and her group from North Carolina got off to a fast start on the first of three full days of fishing on the Wanderer.

Captain William lead the way off shore and found that big green Dorados were stacked up thick as cord-wood.

Time to get lumbering!

They called it a day with 10 Dorados on ice and two more days on the schedule.

Stay Tuned!

November 22, 2013

Pat Faloona and his son booked the Wanderer for a morning of inshore fishing, and they report the first Yellowtail Snapper of the season on ice.

This brightly-colored morsel is a chef’s delight, yielding rich white meat that is a real treat. They also added some vareity to the refrigerator in the form is this small White Tuna.

Not scale-tippers by any stretch, but still these are some great-tasting catches…excellent work son!

Tom Kerl had such fun on his first two days with FishingNosara that he signed up the Wanderer for a victory lap to the blue water. The action kicked off with three meaty Dorados on ice with a beautiful Sailfish release for the finale.

These thick Dorado are a great sign…regular readers of the report may have noticed that so far this season the Mahi have not been huge, but this influx of 20+ lbs. Dorados means that the predatory billfish are not far behind.

This Sailfish was no match for Tom Kerl and the Wanderer and the flagship executed a picture-perfect catch and release of this pelagic.

Great work from the big blue beauty and our new friend Tom Kerl.
