Charlie Phillips, Joe Timm, and Jason Kintner blew the fish out of the water on August 1, posting their best performance to date. How about two Marlin (300lbs. and 500lbs.) and a Sailfish for the trophy case and a nice 25lbs. Mahi for the dinner table?

Travis Picariello is a good old boy from New Jersey who we had the pleasure of meeting at a fishing show in Suffern, NY. With a lot of pleading and begging his parents allowed him and his cousin to visit us in Nosara, and clearly these fellas had some aces up their sleeves from the word ‘go’

Captain David took the Explorer to the blue water and they released a fantastic Marlin followed up by a big Sailfish.

Travis went ahead and picked up dinner in the form of this tasty 15lbs. Tuna and a big Dorado. Great start to the week for the Picariello boys.

Eric Thorne brought his son along on the Wanderer for an inshore fishing trip and this Tallahassee, FL-based angling duo nabbed some nice fish for the dinner table.

The heavy fish was this 25lbs. Amberjack, which unlike their Atlantic Ocean brethren are in fact quite good to eat here on the Pacific coast. Another exciting highlight was this bite-sized Dorado caught by young Mr. Thorne.

Great day of family fishing on the mighty Wanderer for Eric Thorne.

June 26, 2013

Chuck Elzer, Vicki, Elizabeth and Chuck IV returned to the Wanderer for a final pass at the blue water behemoths, and the amazing flagship delivered a dream trip for these Florida anglers. How about TWO Marlin releases backed-up by two mammoth Bull Dorados.

If this were their scorecard for the whole week it would be impressive; to do it in just 5 hours is truly FishingNosara Hall of Fame worthy!

The first Marlin came in at 2:15pm and was a mammoth fish. Looks at the shoulders on this monster; it looks like it’s been bench-pressing since elementary school.

Here’s what Chuck wrote in his email:ย

“This day of fishing was beyond my wildest expectations! I was hoping for a sail but didnโ€™t really expect an opportunity for marlin. The marlin has always been one of those โ€œmustโ€ experiences for me.”

“Not only did I get to experience it, my family did too! No photo or video can come close to the experience of seeing and feeling the power and majesty of that fish. I look forward to recommending Nosara to everyone I know.”

After a safe release by First Mate Alex, the Wanderer continued to troll for about 30 minutes when the outrigger line reported a strong strike. Once this big Bull Dorado reared it’s head, the word ‘strong’ seems like an understatement…this greenie looks like the Incredible Hulk!

With all these filets it’s clear that the Elzers are either A.) Going to have a huge dinner tonight, B.) Make lots of friends around town by giving away filets, or C.) Need to buy several FishingNosara soft coolers to bring these filets back to Florida.

Time was running out on the Elzer’s fishing adventure when the ‘Never Surrender’ attitude of Captain William and the Wanderer shone brightly. At 4:20pm a second massive Marlin took the hook and the posse strapped in for the final battle of the week.

What a perfect send-off for the Elzer’s…their four day adventure on the Wanderer is over for now, but the memories (and photos) will last a lifetime!

June 15 was an amazing day on the Explorer with the Chuck Harris group!

This 70lbs. Dorado was the highlight for the Good Doctors who, in addition to capturing this meaty creature and putting him on ice, got some incredible photos. Check out this monster pound the gunwales of the Explorer!

This fish is estimated at well over 60lbs…keep in mind that the guy in the picture below is over six foot and the tail still touches the deck.

These guys have another full day on the Explorer planned for tomorrow so stayed tuned for more updates.

Chuck Harris and his group of hard-fishin’ doctors are back in Nosara for a full week of heavy fishing. Their first trip on the Wanderer went splendidly with trophy fish released and the return of a favorite: BIG Yellowfin Tunas

They got off to a fast start at 9:30am with was a matched pair of Dorados estimated at 35lbs.

The real action picked up in the afternoon with two Sailfish within minutes of each other.

They also whacked two Yellowfun Tunas at 30lbs. and a monster 100lbs. beast that is certainly a welcome sight!

The Good Doctors will be fishing all week and we can’t wait to see what is in store for these fellas.

It’s staff fishing day for the crew of Nosara Paradise Rentals as General Manager Javier Hernandez was joined by Marino and Grevan from the property staff for an inshore harvest on board the Explorer.

El Jefe helped break in our new set of Penn Spinfishers as the boys brought home a nice Cuberra Snapper, 8 Yellowfin Tuna (20lb.), 3 White Tuna (15lbs.) plus a small Dorado. This is the second time this week that Captain David has captured the four major meat species on a single trip and by the looks of these reports the Explorer may put the fish market out of business.

Great catches for some great guys, even Marcos is getting in on the fun!

May 30, 2013

Dave Buckner and his boys had a landmark day on the bar-room brawlin’ Explorer today with a 12lbs. White tuna, 30lbs. Yellowfin Tuna, and 20lbs. Dorado in the fishbox.

Such variety is not uncommon in these waters…having the tools and talent to bring them all in on the same trip is what makes the Explorer the best mid-size boat in Garza Bay!

May 19, 2013

Kevin Golden has booked four trips on the mighty Wanderer this week and we expect for him to have a lights out performance. His first day certainly didn’t disappoint with four Sailfish releases.

Great work by First Mate Alex to safely release these fish, all while coordinating a photo shoot!

They backed up the trophy fish with a big Bull Dorado; the meanie greenies have been thick the last two weeks so look out for some big Mahi filets coming your way.
