The Explorer welcomed Sharon Peach for an afternoon 5hr trip on January 7. They caught lots of fish and a beautiful sunset.

Dave Freeman went offshore on the 5th onboard the Explorer. Captain Fico is pleased to report a nice Sailfish release backed up by some nice Dorado filets on ice.

Captain Fico scored big on December 28th.

These big Dorados are a welcome surprise, and hopefully a sign of things to come.
Shane and Kristina Sheltra returned to Nosara in late December, and on the 27th they had a great day of blue water fishing on the Explorer.

This monster Blue Marlin release was the highlight of a day that also included great Sailfish action.

Awesome work by the barroom brawler Explorer.
While the big boats were offshore battling Marlins, the Explorer chose a closer orbit and Captain Fico’s witchcraft paid off for the Stephane Ughetto group.

This BIG Yellowfin Tuna (~60lbs.) was clearly the catch of the day, and it was backed up with a nice Sailfish release.

Excellent work by Mate Antonio and Captain Fico.
The barroom brawler Explorer welcomed Nick Moyers for day of fishing on the blue water. Captain Fico reports that the highlight of the trip was a double Sailfish hook-up.

Both fish were safely released separately.

They also nagged some nice Yellowfin Tuna filets for the dinner table.

Excellent work by the super panga Explorer!
The Explorer welcomed Andrew Pickens’ group for a very productive day of offshore action on December 14. This Sailfish release was the highlight:

After the safe release, the barroom brawler loaded up on Yellowfin Tunas and a nice Dorado.

Great job by Captain Fico!
Captain Fico stayed inshore on December 5 and nagged a bunch of nice Red Groupers for angler Justin Seufert.

Great to see that the inshore fishery is producing.
Scott O’Kelley moved over the barroom brawler Explorer on the 24th, and proved once again that you don’t need a big boat to catch big fish in Costa Rica.

Excellent billfish releases got things moving the in right direction. Next, Captain Fico hooked up this big Yellowfin Tuna.

More Yellowfin Tunas and Dorados helped round out the haul.

For the first time in 59 days we have a fishing report to share with the people. The motor on the Explorer has been repaired, but of course she needed a quick water test.

Captain Alex took the helm for the test drive and was joined by Javier and Freddy for a 2 hour tour. They threw out the ceder plugs and the Yella Fellas couldn’t resist.

Clearly the fish missed us, because the boys boated THIRTY Yellowfin Tunas as fast as they could reel.

Do the math: 4 minutes per fish is world-class angling!

These filets will keep the team motivated on their construction projects, and remind us why we work so hard. What a blessing to get back out on the water!
