The flagship Wanderer tied her own record for Rooster Fish release with a whopping FIVE featherheads released in a single day. Vanessa Gallegos and her group were the beneficiaries of this landmark achievement and they report big fish and big smiles all around.

Captain William exploited a roiling boil of baitfish near to shore and First Mate Alex expertly selected the right hook size to isolate the big fish from the rest of the pack.

Great coordination between angler, mate and Captain meant that all of this beauties were released quickly and safely.

After the Gallegos family’s morning 5 hour trip, the Wanderer returned to shore to pick up Steven Cheung and his friends. They went right back to the feeding frenzy and scored another two Rooster fish releases.

Another day, another record for the mighty Wanderer.

December 23, 2014

On the morning of the 23rd the Wanderer welcomed client Leah Armstrong and her family for a fruitful day of inshore action.

Captain William found this bubbling bait ball just a mile from shore and the flagship capitalized on this blessing.

Big Rooster fish were the order of the day. Each was live released so we can catch them again soon!

The action stayed strong with several nice Jack Crevelles providing actions for this young angler.

Then in the afternoon the flagship returned to Garza to scoop up Leah Merryfield and her posse for some high-flying Sailfish action.

Just like the shirt says, this Sailfish learned to Fear the Mustache!

The late-day Sailfish bite lead to two awesome fights and two safe releases.

A getaway Dorado scored was the perfect end to a double day of action for Captain William and the mighty Wanderer.

The battleship Discoverer deliver the fish-of-a-lifetime for Al Santiesteban and his family on their final fishing day:

This monster Blue Marlin is an angling accomplishment that many travel the world’s oceans in pursuit of, and the excitement generate by this catch can’t be overstated.

As has become their habit, this fishing family added a few more Sailfish to their scorecard later in the trip, rounding out an excellent week of fishing action.

Al has already booked a return trip in late-March and we expect another fantastic performance upon his return.

Our main man Kestrel Dickerson was back on the water on November 20 looking to follow up his great inshore action from last year with equal success offshore.

The Wanderer is fit for all forms of fish fighting, and Kestrel added to his legacy with this great Sailfish release.

The rest of the day was punctuated with excellent Dorado action for the whole family:

Excellent work as usual from the mighty flagship!

Captain Carlos has the Explorer rocking-and-rolling this ‘off-season’ with another successful trip on October 10.

This Sailfish release was the highlight of  the trip. Great release by Mate Kevin to assure we’ll see this beauty again later this season.

They didn’t leave empty handed, either; this tasty Yellowfin Tuna will yields some excellent filets for this growing lad. Nice catch!

Man we love California anglers! A good friend of Shea McIntee (of Stoked on Fishing fame) named Ed Smith has brought his boys down to Nosara for a fun week of surfing and fishing.

On August 17 young Sean scored this excellent Sailfish release on the Explorer.

Ed writes: “Sean joined the billfish club today with his first sailfish on light gear.”

“I on the other hand came closer to my cubera snapper goal, losing a monster on a big popper in a few feet of water.”

“Nothing like seeing a 12-inch wide tail/back come crashing down on the jig! Off to buy more poppers tomorrow!”

Still, Ed scored some excellent eating fish with a Yellowfin Tuna, Ponpano, and Snapper all on ice.

Captain Fico has been on fire this month on the Adventurer. He is building a reputation as a consistent fish-catcher and his clients are reaping the rewards.

This nice family scored an Amberjack and a small Snapper, and the next day Yellowfin Tuna was on the menu:

Late in the week this trio knocked out a pair of Yellowfin Tunas and a nice Amberjack.
