Robert McKee and the Explorerย stayed inshore on the 28th and scored a wide variety of tasty treats.
The nagged a big Dorado, a nice Yellowfin Tuna, and a delicious Wahoo.
Tampa angler John Harbord has returned to Nosara after 8 long years. He was enshrined in the FishingNosara Hall of Fame on the strength of our first ever Billfish Grand Slam:
This is back when we used to take the fish out of the water, a practice we abandoned in 2014 to ensure billfish safety.
They reunited with Captain Alex on the 15th and got right back to business with multiple Sailfish releases.
Dinner is on deck due to whopper Wahoos.
Amazing catches by the People’s Champion Harvester.
Theย Explorer is always a good bet for a suprise fish, and this monster Wahoo fits the bill.
This fish is quite abundant, but this catch is surprising because the sharp teeth of the Wahoo tends to overwhelm our all-mono blue water rigs.
The barroom brawler also nagged the more predictable haul of Yellowfin Tunas.
Our buddy Keith D’Agastino joined Captain David on the inshore assassin Adventurer on December 2 and performed brilliantly.
This nice Dorado score was backed up with a supreme Wahoo catch.
Theย Discoverer welcomed Thomas Kerl’s group for a 5 hour half day on the 18th, and despite the shortened day the battleship still delivered the goods.
Captain Fico reports that the staple catches of Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado were present, but suprisingly they also nagged a big Wahoo.
These silver bullets are common in our area but we rarely catch them because their sharp teeth destroy our all-monofiliment rigs (a Wahoo-specific rig uses wire instead of mono). Guess is was a lucky day for the big battleship.
Captain David welcomed David Goldstone to theย Adventurer on July 6 and they nagged this highly-elusive Wahoo for the dinner table.
Marie Cooper had a wonderful day of fishing on the Wanderer on June 16, featuring this Wahoo catch:
Wahoo are not rare in our area, but catching them is since our spread is pure monofilment and the Wahoo teeth usual sever the light line.
The trip was rounded out with more traditional catches of Yellowfin Tuna.
Ken and Brenda Russell and Larry Komenda and Misti Nolan switched over to the Discoverer on the 21st, and took their fish-catching ways with them. A couple of Sailfish top the scorecard:
Then this group of hungry Texans needs meat, so this Monster Dorado and elusive Wahoo will fill the refrigerator.
Check out this jealous bird scoping out their haul. Shoo, bird!
The Discoverer scored the first Wahoo of the year with angler Ernie DeWinne’s group reporting this nice silver bullet:
They also rounded out the haul with this big Yellowfin Tuna.
Excellent work by the big battleship in delivering two of the best meats in the ocean to these great clients.
Jason Brosche and his group nabbed a nice variety of meat fish on the Wanderer on the 16th.
This nice Dorado has been par for the course recently, but his sneaky Wahoo will be an excellent addition to the dinner table.
