Excellent day of fishing on the Wanderer by client Dave Ulev from Illinois. His group wanted to specifically target Yellowfin Tuna so Captain William chased the dolphin schools while First Mate Alex deployed a spread featuring the undeniable Cedar plug.
The fish came in hot and heavy, one after the other, and Dave didn’t stop until the box was filled with Yella fellas and Jack Crevalle.
Great filets for Dave and another outstanding effort by the famous Wanderer!
We were stoked to host a wedding fishing fiesta with Rob Anderson and his group from Dallas, TX. They split the party between the Wanderer and the Explorer. Both boats saw consistent action, but the Wanderer had the edge when it comes to good eatin’ keepers.
Captain William and the big blue beauty accounted for 10 Yellowfin tunas and five Jack Crevalles in the fishbox, while over on the Explorer Captain David’s group got a bunch of Bonita and a few feisty reef Snapper.
No matter how you score it, Mr. Anderson and his group certainly caught enough fish for the wedding party. Great work team!
Captain David and the 26-foot Explorer welcomed Jay Johnston and his group for an afternoon half-day fishing trip. The California anglers wanted to target Yellowfin Tuna primarily, but the 1pm Sailfish bite proved too alluring so Captain David took it offshore early in the trip.
This excellent Sailfish was released unharmed after a brief but vigorous 10 minute fight. Captain David knows what to do when these big fish come calling and he brought this fight to a quick, safe and satisfying conclusion.
Jay’s posse kept their collective foot on the gas once the Explorer returned inshore and anchored up to Pincha Padre. They finished the evening with 10 Yellowfin Tunas weighing between 12lbs. and 20lbs. in the box.
Check out the Wasabi/Soy sauce tray in the right foreground…No one’s going hungry in the Johnston group tonight!
Jay A Johnston from California booked with Captain David on the Explorer for a half day of Yellowfin Tuna hunting and we are stoked to report that they bulls-eyed their target species.
This is just one of the many feasty morsels they put in the fishbox over a course of 5 hours. Excellent dining for Mr. Johnston!
Gary Stacey booked the Wanderer for a full 8 hour day on the blue water and the flagship delivered the goods for this Missouri-based angler. The spinning porpoises led the way to a large mancha (school) of feasting Yellowfin Tunas.
The boys broke out the topwater plugs and the big Yellas couldn’t resist. Gary has plenty of sushi eating to do in the near future, as once again the fishbox of the mighty Wanderer just can’t stay clean!
The post-Christmas fishing blitz means that it’s all hands on deck for FishingNosara. Three boats had trips today and all of our Captains report excellent catches.
Atlanta based client Joel Adler split his group between our two mid-sized vessels, the 23′ Nice n’ Tight and the 26′ Explorer.
Captain Eduardo struck early and often with a MASSIVE Amberjack, a beefy Dorado, and a nice Yellowfin tuna for the dinner table with clients Ed, Pete and Deena.
Captain David on the Explorer reports a Yellowfin tuna backed up by a Yellowtail Snapper and a Rock Snapper with Mr. Adler.
Kevin Killerman enlisted Captain Vibert and the 32′ Aimee Marie for a half-day of inshore fishing and he piled the fishbox high with 7 Jack Crevalles. Nice work by the Master Captain and a great first trip back for the Aimee Marie which has been undergoing maintenance recently.
Great action by the whole FishingNosara team!
Unwilling to give the fish any mercy, Chris Landis and Chuck Powell booked and additional day on the Wanderer on Sunday and turned in a performance that tops both of their previous days.
Once again they had two Sailfish come up about 9am, then more in the afternoon. These anglers really have the Sailfish figured out as they added two more excellent releases to their scorecard.
Captain William found a school of dolphins and Chris started whacking them on a top water casted ‘El Popper’. Once the bite cooled off the boys deployed the trusty cedar plug to finish off the school of Yellowfin Tuna.
By the end of the day they had boated 15 Yella Fellas. Excellent haul by Chuck Powell, Chris Landis, and the mighty Wanderer.
The perfect way to kick off the season was with General Manager Javier Hernandez and his friends joining Captain David on the Explorer for a harvest of the fertile reefs just outside of Garza Bay. In just two hours they boated a handful of Yellowfin Tunas, Jack Crevalles, Cerro Mackerals, and Amberjacks.
Nice warm up lap! The fish are biting and we are fired up for a great year of fishing.
After a great day of fishing with Kurt Stecken, Captain David noticed the clear weather was sticking around and decided to squeeze in a quick family trip this morning. Joined by Nosara Paradise Rentals GM Javier Hernandez, Captain David and Betsy had a very fruitful 3 hour morning trip.
Nice roosterfish! Estimated to weigh 25lbs, this rooster was released. Later in the morning these locals put some dinner on the table in the form of three nice Yellowfin Tunas and a Yellowtail snapper.
It’s always great with our staff gets some time on the water. When one considers the effort to launched and recover both boats in a single morning it is clear that Javier and Captain David deserved some fun fishing. Awesome work!
With boat repair going faster than anticipated and a two-day break in the rains approaching, the Captains and crew of FishingNosara dared to ask the question “What off-season?”
Both the Explorer and Wanderer were in action today with client Kurt Stecken separating his group between the two boats. Launching and recovering two big boats at a time on the beach is no easy feat, but Cumi and Javier are pros and got the vessels floating with minimal troubles. Even better is both groups of clients reported excellent catches.
On the Explorer the action was consistent and fruitful to the tune of nine Yella fellas and a pair of 20lbs. Amberjacks. They also had a curious Sailfish knocking around behind the teasers but he wasn’t hungry.

Sure enough the big blue beauty was busy packing the fishbox. They started a little slow with a small Jack and a quartet of Bonitas, then the lines started popping off with some big fish.
The Wanderer scorecard for the day shows six nice Yellowfin Tuna and a massive 60lbs.+ Amberjack. Clearly, they caught enough fish for the party tonight. Big fish, full bellies and happy clients…it’s what FishingNosara is all about!
