John Sheldon was on board the Explorer yesterday with big fish on the brain. They tried offshore in the morning and it was slow, so then they returned inshore and caught a nice Yellowfin tuna and a suegra.

On April 19, Dan Enki was with Captain Eduardo on the legendary Nice n’ Tight and had some great action inshore. He caught a sweet Dorado and a 10lbs. Ponpano as well. Great fishing on a half-day trip.
Since then clients Richard, Stephen, andย Shelbi had a magnificent day fishing on the Nice n’ Tight. First they got a nice Wahoo and a beautiful Yellowfin tuna.
Then they capped off the trip with this fantastic Sailfish release. Great work by Captain Eduardo and the Nice n’ Tight.

Captain Eduardo has been knocking ’em out the last few weeks, and yesterday’s trip with Terry on the Sportsman was truly one to remember. They loaded up with a bunch of Bonitas for strip bait which in turn yielded three nice Yellowfin Tunas and two Amberjacks.
Then in the afternoon the Sailfish bite turned on in a major way. They raised five sails and buried the hooks into two of them. The releases were estimated at 80lbs. and 110lbs. Fantastic fishing by the legendary Captain Eduardo Carrillo.

Today was an absolutely perfect day for a boat show. The weather was perfect and a thick crowd of people flooded Metropolian Park for the last day of the Southeast US Boat Show.
The raffle box was bursting at the seams when we picked the recipient of a week in Casa Capitan and fishing trip with Captain David on the Explorer or a Safari Tour. Drum roll please…
The winner of the Southeast US Boat Show Raffle is Mr. Jeff D Norton!
Great boat show all around, with special praises due to Jimmy Hill and his incredible staff lead by Stephanie. Current Productions did an outstanding job dealing with crazy weather, hundreds of boats on land and a few dozen more at sea. Excellent work…we had a great time!

Make fast the sails! With sustained 30 knot winds and gusts over 60, it felt more like sailing than a boat show on Saturday. With help from our neighboring vendors we managed to keep the tent in one piece and not fly away to the land of Oz.
Despite the gusty conditions, several boating enthusiasts braved the elements to take in another day of fine offerings from all things marine. Major respect for the other vendors and for Jimmy Hill, Stephanie, and Bonnie for remaining calm in the center of this windstorm. The show must go on, and it was still an excellent day.
The forecast calls for perfection tomorrow, so if the wind kept you in make sure that tomorrow you find a way to come on down to the Southeast US Boat Show.

On Sunday night the General Manager of Nosara Paradise Rentals Javier Hernandez took our two newest employees out for a sunset cruise on the Explorer. Our staff is a tight-knit group of friends and family, so anytime we bring new people into the fold it is a special occasion.
Kelvin (left) has been brought on board as the chief technician for the Safari Carts. He also takes a central role in the repair and upkeep of all things mechanical and technical on the NPR campus.
Artrero (right) is a welcome addition to our office staff where he specializes in sales, client relations, and assists Manuel and Javier on the day-to-day operations. His brother is Nice n’ Tight/Sportsman Captain Eduardo Carrillo.
Both of these gentlemen are doing great and we hope to have them with us for a long time.
As for the fishing, Captain David took them out to Pincha Padre (literally translated: Your Daddy’s Spot) and they caught some Black Tuna and a few nice Jacks.

Great first day at the Southeast US Boat Show. Our free raffle for the trip to Costa Rica has already created a buzz around the park, plus have had lots of interest in T-shirts and hats.
Of course, the real event today was the bikini contest. Here is the winning gal (sorry for the grainy photo; I was jostling for position with about 50 other people).
All told we are having a great time. C’mon down and see us this weekend!

A few weeks back while pre-fishing for the Ship of Fools Tournament, I asked Captain David Barrantes of the Explorer if there were any other area captains who he didn’t like. See in Florida we get really competitive with other boats, especially during tournament time.
David looked at me like I was crazy and laughed off the question. “Matt, we are all friends on the water.”
Sure enough, these guys really look out for each other. From sharing the location of good fishing spots to giving away excess bait, the Ticos of Garza bay are family first, fishermen second.
It is no surprise then that when longtime FishingNosara mate Vibert Blanche, Jr. received his own boat, the Secret Spot, that Captain David joined him for an afternoon trip to help shake down the new craft.
David and Vibert shared the duties of rigging, gaffing, and angling like old friends. I imagine that seeing these two titans of Garza fishing in the same boat scared the bejezzus out of the fish, and with good reason.
By the end of the trip they had caught several nice Yellowfin tunas and this beautiful Roosterfish.
Though the Secret Spot is not currently a part of the FishingNosara fleet, we wish young Vibert the best of luck on his new boat…after all “We are all friends on the water.”
