Earl Newton is a old boat man from Jacksonville, FL who we met back in April when we purchased FishingNosara’s next great vessel the Discoverer. We instantly became good friends and he has served as an advisor on The Discoverer Project since the beginning.

Of course you can’t hang around us very long until we talk you into going to Nosara, and sure enough Earl and his posse spent a relaxing week at Nosara Paradise Rentals plus took to the water to hunt down some Pacific billfish.

We are stoked to report that Earl and the boys absolutely knocked it out of the park on their fishing days with multiple Sailfish releases and some tasty Dorados for the dinner table.

Great work by a great friend on the Discoverer‘s sister ship the mighty Wanderer.

Wisconsin anglers James Isham booked up the Wanderer on St. Patrick’s Day and they celebrated with some big-time bottom fishing!

The planer / spoon rig produced a small Bonita right off the bat; this feeder fish would be the perfect bait to lure one of the big boys out from their reef hiding spot. Sure enough something big hit the rigged Bonita and James buckled in for the fight of his life!

What a fish! This Cuberra Snapper weighs at least 40lbs. and was followed close behind by another equally large Snapper.

That’s a heckuva impressive inshore haul by the mighty Wanderer!

The billfish were scarce today, so the crafty Captain William switched up the spread on the Wanderer to target some dinner-time filets. As always the flagship delivered the goods for client Henry Noguera and his group.

In all they boated four nice Dorados with the big one estimated at 40lbs.

So lots of attention is getting paid to some poor boat-handling fool down in Panama. Yes Marlin are strong, and yes they swim fast. It is a true fish-of-a-lifetime but only an amateur sinks his own boat and puts his clients in the drink trying to catch one.

Here’s how real professionals catch and release Marlin.

Captain William of the Wanderer keeps this fight short (under 25 minutes) with superb boat handling, angler Craig Sutton keep tension on the fish for the duration, and First Mate Alex executes a perfect revival and release.

All while keeping the boat on top of the water ๐Ÿ™‚

Proper tackle + strong boat and crew = safe releases and good times

Scott Walcott is a tough-as-nails fisherman from the Bay of Quinte on the north shore of Lake Ontario. He and his brother joined Captain William on the Wanderer to try his hand at some warm weather fishing and were treated with the quintessential bucket list bottom fish: Rooster!

They captured and released two beautiful specimens with a fly rod. Our team is always fired up to try new techniques and flycasting for the powerful surface striking Rooster fish certainly had the boys grinning.

Great work by First Mate Alex on the safe releases as the Wanderer proves once again that there is no type of fishing that she can’t do.

Bill Werden and his group acquired their vacation package at a banquet for the Florida Coastal Conservation Association and they bellied up to the bar for some great sailfish action on the Wanderer.

A relaxing sunset cruise was a fitting end to one of the busiest months ever for the Wanderer. Client Charles Bamburg brought a fun-loving group on board for a quick 2.5 hour jaunt to the inshore reef and they had a boatload of fun to go with several Jack Crevelle catches.

Take a look at the good times:
