The big score came on March 13 with client Dewey Gile who packed the fishbox with four nice Yellowfin Tunas. Adding a Marlin release to that day would be the trip of a lifetime right? How about TWO Blue marlins?

Blue Marlin Costa Rica

That’s right! Performing like a boat twice her size, the Explorer captured the flag this weekend. Lots of Yellowfins and a double Blue Marlin day…doesn’t get much better than that!

The Cox family have been tearing the water up this week, but they truly saved the best for last.

After some great action on the Wanderer followed by more fish on the Explorer, the First Coast couple were back on the blue beauty for some big-time Marlin Hunting.

Fishin’ Accomplished! Great work by the Roy and Cathy Cox and the entire FishingNosara team.

We promised photos of Captain Vibert and client Dick Stacey’s Blue Marlin, and here it is! What a great catch by Mr. Stacey and as always some amazing boat-handling and angling by Captain Vibert and Mate Marcos.

Captain Vibert and the Cabo have hit their stride arleady this season and we expect even more great trips from the Master Captain in the future.

Client Ed Haynes released a 450lbs. Marlin on the Wanderer today. Great work by Angler and crew…Check out Captain William himself on the billshot.

Also while bobbing around Garza Bay, First Mate Alex hooked up this massive 80lbs. Rooster Fish. Of course we released this fish immediately but it is still a heck of a catch for so close to shore. Nice fish Alex!

Fresh off of catching the first Sailfish on the Explorer, Steve Levin took to the Wanderer to continue his one man War on Billfish. On his first day he brought in this awesome Blue Marlin, estimated to weigh about 300lbs.

Like all billfish caught by FishingNosara crews, this Marlin was live released.

To follow up this legendary catch, Steve Levine and the boys took another shot at the billfish in the blue water. Check out this incredible sailfish:

After three great releases on two different boats, we’re sure that the local billfish population are glad to see Steve Levine go. Great fishing!

On August 6th client Scott McKee and his friends were on the Wanderer for the first of three full days fishing. On the first trip they caught a nice-sized Dorado and hooked up but lost a pair of Sailfish.

August 7th was the high point for Scott McKee’s party as they caught two fish of a lifetime. First up was this 100lbs. Sailfish (above) that put on a real show for these anglers. After a safe release, they set their sights on the big daddy Blue Marlin.

What a fight! This guy was a heck of a catch and he wanted no part of a photo session. This is as close as he felt like coming, and Scott clearly had no problem with that. The party rounded out their trip on the 3rd day with a nice Yellowfin tuna and a brutish Amberjack.

On August 3rd we welcomed our new friend Travis Tabor for the first of five full days fishing. Travis is a fellow First Coaster (he hails from St. Augustine) and he brought some trademark Florida enthusiasm with him.

The first day was a little slow, but his second trip things picked up in a big way. On August 4th Travis started off the day with two awesome Sailfish releases.

Then a big bad Blue Marlin came tearing through the spread and hit the high speed marlin rig like a steam locomotive. After a brief but vigorous fight, they boated and released this incredible Blue Marlin.

August 5th was full of action but with more humble results. Captain William put Travis on a couple of Sailfish, but they managed to escape this time. They rounded out the evening on the inshore reef and filled the sushi trays with an assortment of tunas.

With the Sailfish and Marlin in the bag, Travis decided to make a run at the legendary Costa Rica Grand Slam. Next up was the red devil known as Cuberra Snapper.

Using FishingNosara’s exclusive Cuberra Fishing Tactic, Mr. Tabor hauled in this evil looking 45lbs. Cuberra off the bottom despite this species’ reputation for fighting like the devil. Nice smile by the way!

Could Travis catch the elusive Rooster Fish and complete the Costa Rica Grand Slam? The suspense would build as we’d have to wait a few days to find out.

Recently Renee Taylor and family booked the Wanderer on June 16th and had a magnificent day. They released a 250lbs. Striped Marlin and a 120lbs. Sailfish and a nice Yellowfin tuna to the mix…call this a perfect end to a great month of fishing.

This bite should hold well into September, but dates are filling up fast so don’t delay, book today!

Renee Taylor and her family’s incredible catches just goes to show that with proper tackle and a strong boat anybody can catch the fish of a lifetime with FishingNosara!

One of my best friends Jacksonville angler Chetri Dimitroff was aboard the Wanderer on May 28th and caught his first ever Pacific Blue Marlin. The fight lasted seventeen minutes and ended with a safe live release. Chetri represents FishingNosara at fishing tournaments around Florida; last year he placed in the Kingbuster 400. This trip, Chetri and his posse had an awesome time and caught nice tattooed sunburns.
