Captain Eduardo took some time out of his schedule to take fishing the most important clients of all…his kids! They spent some time drifting over the reefs and each pulled in a nice Cabrilla (Broomtail Grouper).

Let’s remember our loved ones this Christmas and keep our eyes on what is really important: family, family, family. Way to go Captain Eduardo doing his part to Hook the Future.

The next morning was family fishing time for client Paul Tyler on the Explorer. They caught a pair of Bonitas on the devastating planer/spoon rig then anchored up to the reef to find some good eatin’.

The Jacksonville, FL angler and his family ripped in four awesome White tunas in a very short time. These tasty delicacies make for some of the best sushi in the world.ย  They also nailed this excellent Jack Crevalle.

Great work by Mr. Tyler and the indefatigable Explorer.

On November 27 Captain David welcomed client Ian Raymond to the Explorer for a combination snorkling-fishing trip in the afternoon. It was a productive day highlighted by five tough little Needlefish on ice.

Then another great family came along on November 30 and had a fantastic trip on the Explorer. More Dorado, more White Tunas, and more big smiles from happy kids. Great work muchachos!

On December 2 Captain David parked the Explorer on a nice pot of Dorados. Yummy sandwiches and steaks from these lovely Mahi-mahis and another great report from the excellent Super Panga.

Timothy Patrick Riley and his family closed out Thanksgiving day with an afternoon fishing trip on the Wanderer with Captain William. The skies turned overcast…combine that with the green water close to shore and you have the recipe for some Dorado devastation.

They caught a half-dozen of the tasty green morsels which should definitely make for a great feast. What a great bit of family fishing in Costa Rica to keep this week of great action going. Nice work Riley family!

She had a very special group with her this time: her family! The posse consisted of son Daniel, daughter Brooke, daughter-in-law Maria Yetty, and several of her grandkids visiting from the United States for Thanksgiving.

“Ever see a 15 year old kid who says he never caught anything trolling on the end of a mean Sail?” writes Richmond. “It was great.”

Awesome release by Oliver and Zeke Sheilds-Wald!

The Phipps posse released this Sailfish and lost a big Yellowfin tuna on the first day. On their second trip the group stayed inshore and had an absolute feeding frenzy on their hands.ย  Maria Yetty was the hot rod catching several tasty White tunas.

The big fish was this 20lbs. Amberjack, but they backed that catch up with a total of four White Tunas, five Jack Crevalles and a pair of nice Bonitas.

August 20, 2011

Our new friend Wade Boyken from Merritt Island, Florida began his first of multiple days of fishing on the Wanderer with a huge day of Sailfish strikes.ย  Captain William took them offshore where the Sailfish bite has been absolutely incredible the last few weeks.

Check out these great Sailfish releases:

By the end of this trip the Boyken bunch released 3 nice Sailfish. Wade has more trips coming this week. Stay tuned!

August 9, 2011

Robert Barrett and his boys from Orlando, FL had a nice trip on the morning of August 9 on the Wanderer. They started on the bottom fishing with our Cuberra Snapper Tactic and guess what? They caught a 35lbs. Cubera Snapper along with three Yella fellas.

The good fishing continued offshore as they topped off the trip by releasing two nice Sailfish. The first one came in on the long shotgun line and David (on loan from the Explorer) billed and captured this beauty. Nice work by the young Mr. Barrett to keep this fish healthy for its release…even First Mate Alex was impressed by the boy’s strength in keeping the fish off of the gunwale:
The next Sailfish was business as usual for First Mate Alex:

Great performance, no? This super-productive day shows what is possible even this late into the season. Great work by the Wanderer and Roberto Barrett!

August 5, 2011

After several trips on the Wanderer, Rick Egan made his final lap around our fishery on August 5 hoping to cap off his trip that has already included great bottom fishing action and numerous Sailfish releases.

He chose Captain David and the Explorer for a morning half-day and they got off to a quick start with three Bonitas and a two Jacks (20lbs. and 35lbs.)

Mr. Egan also lost a big Roosterfish on a topwater Williamson Jet Popper close to the boat. It was a monster and it hurt Rick’s heart to not get him into the boat for the picture, but even though he still had a great time. Plus they got a smaller Roosterfish:

Captain David is the go-to-guy for sunset fishing trips; these late-afternoon 3 hour trips are a great way to introduce kids and novice anglers to the joy of Costa Rica sport fishing without committing to the expense and exertion of a full day on the water. Client Marc brought his daughter along for a sunset cruise yesterday evening and checked in with this nice Yellowfin Tuna.

The Explorer has seen many first-time anglers cut their teeth, and Captain David’s steady boat handling and genuine good nature have made it a fishing experience to last a lifetime for these young anglers. The look on the little lady’s face says it all!

May 23, 2011

On May 23 Captain Vibert welcome a nice visiting family to the Cabo for a half-day trip and everyone had a great time. Check out this mini-Dorado caught by this mini-Angler. The Master Captain always delivers great trips for his clients big and small.

Most recently Captain Vibert welcomed client Adolfo Malavasi for a full day of fishing on the Cabo and they had a banner day. The first big catch was this amazing Needlefish on a slow trolled cedar plug.

Needlefish

Then things really started to heat up with a variety of Snappers and Tunas. This White Tuna is one of the tastiest fish in the sea and a tough fighting fish.

Realistically, we could talk all day about the Master Captain’s skills on the water, but how about we let the fishbox do the talking:
