Tyler and Emily Patterson won the Full of Bull Redfish Tournament last year and part of their prize included a half-day of fishing on the famous Wanderer. Captain William and First Mate Alex were primed to show these Jacksonville anglers the best fishing that Costa Rica has to offer.

The highlight of the trip was this excellent Sailfish release by Emily. Great work as always by the crew to ensure the safe release of this beautiful fish.

John VenHousen brought his wife and daughter down to Nosara from Wisconsin and booked the family-friendly Wanderer for several 6.5 hour fishing trips.

Captain William took the Wanderer 20 miles off-shore to find good clean blue water. First Mate Alex deployed the spread at 11:30am and at just past noon the first big monster came calling. Mrs. VenHousen seized the reel and brought this beauty all the way in for a clean release.

At 1:30 another acrobatic Sailfish attacked and put on an amazing show for the VenHousens. Look at this girl fly!

John won back line from the beast and added the second Sailfish release of the day. Great start to a full week of fishing for these Wisconsin anglers.

Morgan Trible and Kenny Strickler have built reputations as the most consistent anglers in the area. Hailing from the hard fishing state of Virginia, these guys seem to post Hall of Fame-caliber results every time they hit the water.

On this, their third trip of the week, the boys had a pair of early afternoon Sailfish attack the spread but spit the hooks. They deployed this special live bait spread to coax up another billfish:

The ladies were back in the boat for only 5 minutes before a mack-daddy Sailfish came for a visit. The fight was thrilling but quick as these Virginian’s added another great Sailfish release to their scorecard.

Also check out the blue FishingNosara coozie on the right; we have been out of stock of blue coozies for quite some time now, which means one of the guys brought it along from home. Hold on to that coozie, bud…it’s good luck!

With First Mate Alex’s careful assistance, Morgan released this Sailfish clean and ready to fight another day.

John Barrineau and his family were back on the Wanderer looking to top their three-for-three Sailfish performance from earlier in the week, and we are stoked to report that these Jacksonville anglers achieved another remarkable feat: The Double Sailfish Release!

This was just the tip of the iceberg for the trip as the Barrineau’s added three more releases to the scorecard.

What fantastic results this week for these Jacksonville anglers as once again the mighty Wanderer delivers on the promise of high-end Costa Rica sportfishing!

Nosara is a world destination for Yoga students with dreams of obtaining their teaching certification. While some of these folks spend their off days on nature walks and ziplines, a select few have tested their strength against the blue water beasts that lurk offshore.

We were pleased to host Megan McKerroll, Erica Porter, andย Ceciley Slocum for a pleasant and productive sunset cruise on the Explorer. The rods stayed bent as the indomitable Explorer found 10 thick bonitas early on for use as bait.ย 

Captain David instructed the girls to drop the rigged bait chunks all the way to the bottom, roughly 260 feet. A little nibble later and BOOM! Erica Porter was hooked up and had to use every ounce of strength to haul this beastly Red Grouper into the boat.

They added two more Red Groupers and this awesome Congrio for the fishbox and returned to shore very satisfied.

Despite their best efforts they couldn’t eat all the filets, as Erica had to give away two full ziplocs to her pals from the Yoga School. All told it was a great experience and whole boatload of fun!

Isabel Fernandez comes to Nosara from a lovely little South Florida fishing village that is just a few blocks from the IGFA Hall of Fame. Floridan anglers are certainly no stranger to productive days on the water, and the afternoon of March 8 was another day at the office for these Sunshine Staters.

First up was the tasty and elusive Congrio, known for it’s excellent white meat. Then these Floridians really piled the fishbox with a swath of tasty Grouper.

Most importantly, everyone has a great time and has big smiles to show for it…another great trip by the Wanderer.

Jon Infanti brought a whole swarm of folks down to Nosara this week and on March 7 booked the Wanderer, Explorer, and Sportsman for a full-on fishing party. The full moon brought some brackish green water in close to shore, but the Captains of FishingNosara know how to overcome obstacles like bad water.

All three boats caught fish, with the Sportsman and Captain Eduardo leading the way with 7 Red Groupers.

The Wanderer kept pace with three nice Red Groupers as well as multiple Jack Crevalles for the fish box.

The Explorer stayed a little closer to shore and scored a nice Red Grouper and five tasty Congrios.

All told these folks put a nice hurtin’ on the meat fish and should have enough filets to feed even the largest dinner party. Excellent work by some folks who certainly know how to have a good time on the water.

William and Jessica Bronner followed up their incredibly large Dorado with another trip offshore with Captain William and the flagship Wanderer. This father-daughter fishing team notched the scorecard with two excellent Sailfish releases

Mr. Bronner was first up on the reel at 1pm when this MASSIVE Pacific Sailfish came tearing through the spread. Captain William kept the angler in an advantageous position while First Mate Alex coordinated the action from the cockpit. They kept the fight short and sweet, releasing this beauty in under 30 minutes.

An hour later Jessica Bronner flexed her fishing muscles on a Pacific Sailfish of her own. Jessica hails from the hard-fishing town of Del Rey Beach, FL and she didn’t need any explanation on how to bring in big-time billfish.

“Jessica is one of the best female anglers I’ve ever seen,” commented First Mate Alex, who has been a professional boatman for over 14 years. “She fought this fish like a pro and even assisted on the bill and release. Jessica Bronner can fish with me anytime!”

Once again the Wanderer delivered a fantastic trip for a fantastic fishing family. Great work by Captain William, First Mate Alex, and the Bronners.

Our new friends William Bronner and his daughter Jessica are in Nosara for a week of relaxing, travelling, and of course some big time fishing! They were on the Wanderer with Captain William and pulled a MASSIVE Dorado estimated to weigh well over 60lbs.

Now that’s a heck of fish, but the way they caught it really stands out as something unique. Notice anything weird about this picture?

Look closer:

This monster moved through the spread so quickly that he gulped down a second rigged ballyhoo before the hook was set from the first bait! With twice the leverage and the hooksets this beast came home with little effort.

Very unique accomplishment for the Bronners who have more fishing scheduled this week. Stay tuned!
