This hectic moment was made easy for both angler and fish alike by Captain William’s steady hand on the wheel and First Mate Alex’s world-class fish handling. Both fish were safely revived and released without incident.

A relaxing sunset cruise was a fitting end to one of the busiest months ever for the Wanderer. Client Charles Bamburg brought a fun-loving group on board for a quick 2.5 hour jaunt to the inshore reef and they had a boatload of fun to go with several Jack Crevelle catches.

Take a look at the good times:

Adrian Archuleta is back for more, and this time he brought a posse! Last year he fished with us on the Explorer but with a larger group came the step up to the flagship Wanderer.

The Sailfish have been on fire recently and this trip was a perfect example. Five total releases, including the very challenging Double Sailfish release.

Great work by the anglers and by Captain William to prevent a line-cross tangle. Next up the ladies put on a show for the fellas with some Sailfish releases of their own.

All fish were released safely as usual by the incomparable First Mate Alex.

Craig-

Had a great time!ย  What an amazing business you have going down there! Kudos to the great staff and can’t wait to return!ย

Lucy Edgerton booked a trip for her dad and together they bested a pair of beautiful Pacific Sailfish. First up was this beastie estimated to weigh 95lbs.

Then it was Lucy’s turn on the reel and she kept up her end of the bargain by battling another nice fish. This monster was wore out after a vigorous 15 minute fight.

Great fish handling by First Mate Alex and boat maneuvering by Captain William to ensure a safe and fun experience for all involved, fish included.

Jim Kramer and his group are big time anglers who hail from the hard-fishin’ state of Delaware. These First Staters booked up the Wanderer for a billfish hunt and were rewarded with three excellent Sailfish releases ranging from 80lbs. – 90lbs.

These fish fight hard, but Jim and his ladies fought a little harder.

Excellent second trip of the day for the blue bomber with a total of four Sailfish released on this Christmas eve.

Judith Cristchell and her friends enjoyed a picturesque sunset cruise on the spacious Wanderer. These quick 2.5 hour trips are just right to take in the vistas and watch dolphins mingle with lazy turtles;

All that, plus these guys and gals also had some fine action on the reels!

These feisty Jack Crevelles couldn’t resist the Planer / Spoon rig and they lined up to pile into the fishbox. Looks like everyone was pumped up to get some fish in the boat.

Well almost everyone!

All smiles on another memorable and productive sunset cruise on the flagship Wanderer.

We’re back baby!

ย

After a grueling off-season of repairs and maintainance, the mighty Wanderer was back on the water for a fruitful half day trip with the Scott Pennty group.

Great conditions and clear water meant that the Dorados were on the feed; check out these tasty green monsters.

Captain William and First Mate Alex delivered another fun, safe, and productive fishing outing for their clients and this is surely a sign of things to come for the flagship.

Great start for the big blue beauty, but stay tuned because we have lots of trips booked this week…should only get better!

Brad Hrebenar, David Marino and the rest of their Texas posse booked the Wanderer for a half day trip with outstanding results. With Captain William still on the injured list, command of the flagship was temporarily bequeathed to Captain Carlos of the Adventurer joined by mate-in-training Francisco.

New faces in new places, but the result is the same for the mighty Wanderer: This group released four excellent Sailfish and had a nice White tuna for the dinner table.

Take a look at this little guy; estimated at 50lbs. this adolescent Sailfish is more reminecent of a full-grown Atlantic Sailfish. Give him another year or so and this beastie will be bigger than Francisco.

Young billfish like this require even more gentle handling and we are glad to report this fish (like all billfish we catch) was safely released.

Captain Carlos also reports that he had a Marlin on a teaser, but “he will eat next time.” The Marlin have been scarce since May, but as long as the Sailfish are around it seems that everyone is all smiles.

Fresh sushi today for client Matt Lukof and his group on the Adventurer. Captain Carlos has the little 23-foot straight razor sharpened to a finely honed edge and on this trip sliced and diced his way to a full fishbox.

Amanda got thing rolling with this excellent Jack Crevelle, and if you notice in the background Matt a fish on the line as well. By trip’s end they had caughtย  two Yellowfin Tunas, a Barbero Snapper and 7 Bonitos. That is fantastic action for just a 5 hour trip.

Great work Captain Carlos and the devastatingly diminutive Adventurer.

April 23, 2012

Chris Meade and his friends came to Nosara with the singular purpose of catching massive billfish, and we are stoked to report a record-setting day for this group from New York. They selected Captian William, First Mate Alex and the famous Wanderer to show them the way to the promised land.

How many billfish could they fit into a 5 hour half day trip? Let’s find out:

The first Sailfish came charging into the spread at 12:15pm and was released at 12:30pm which is a typical fight as long as the right angler, crew, and tackle are brought to bear on the feat. The second Sailfish wasn’t far behind and he was released at 1:0opm.

A third Sailfish reared its bill and once again Chris Meade’s group was up for the challenge. This predatory pelagic was released at 2:20pm

The highlight of the trip was this gorgeous Marlin released at 3:30pm. It bucked and barrel rolled on the way to boat, but Captain William acted quickly to de-tangle the fish while Alex kept her calm and steady.

What a beautiful specimen! Team Meade wasn’t satisfied, and they would close out the day with another pair of Sailfish releases at 4:03pm and 4:50pm.

Talk about squeezing every ounce of fishing out of a 5 hour trip…this is clearly a half-day for the ages!
