A fine group of anglers came to us from the Blue Spirit Yoga Retreat desiring a taste of some blue water fishing. We split the party up between the Wanderer and Explorer with great rod-bendin’ action reported from both groups.

Check out this fine White Tuna from the Wanderer. Clearly this boat has the tools to satisfy any angler of any age!

Nice work by the big blue beauty!

Nancy Ferguson and her posse had a very productive day on the Wanderer with a pair of tasty Dorados in the fishbox. These Virginia anglers are the latest in a long line of great clients we’ve hosted from the Old Dominion.

These green goodies have been prevalent so far this season and are a great sign for the coming year.

Great work by Captain William and First Mate Alex to put their guests on the fish and bring them all the way to the icebox.

The Wanderer hosted some excellent clients today for an inshore assault. Lisa Quam got the ball rolling with this sweet Cierro Mackerel:

Steve Bonczyk really set the water on fire with this excellent Rooster fish release. This beast fought like a bear…look at that rod doubled over!

First Mate Alex handled this fish with great care to ensure a quick and healthy release.

Great work by some great clients and the baddest boat in Garza bay the Wanderer!

Captain David is the lead dog when it comes to boat maintainace. He is on a hot streak this summer with the new panga boat and all the Explorer repairs finished in record time. So much so, that he took a few days this week to repaint the flagship Wanderer.

The Wanderer is on standby in Garza bay so naturally the staff at Nosara Paradise Rentals coerced Captain William and First Mate Alex to take them out for a little trip to the fish market.

The almost-finished rainy season has pushed a lot of felled trees down the rivers and out into the ocean; the Wanderer found such a trash line floating in front of Samarra about 6 miles east of Garza. With this much shade, any angler knows that green gold is hiding in the shadows.

Here are our two best drivers Fast Freddy (left) and Freddy Paloma (right) with a nice Dorado. Also our new office assistant Cynthia and our cheif mechanic Marino were on board for the mahi mayhem:

Great work by the Wanderer in keeping her craft sharp during the offseason.

Shannon and Pam Emery followed up their incredible first day of fishing with a monster of a different sort; yesterday they beat up big billfish but today they dropped bait to the bottom and bested this beastly Broomtail Grouper:

Wow! This monster is estimated by the crew to weigh well over 70lbs. That’s a lot of grouper sandwiches for sure!

“This day was planned to do some inshore for rooster, snapper and grouper. The day was almost a bust because of the rain and color of the water. With 15 minutes remaining the crew got me hooked into a big Broomtail Grouper that we got to the boat despite my letting him get back into the rocks.”

Great work by the crew of the mighty Wanderer, the boat that doesn’t know the meaning of the phrase “off season”.

Shannon and Pat followed up their Marlin and Sailfish releases with more excitement. Two Sailfish released and a trio of big Dorados on ice for the dinner table.

“The second day was as good as the first with two sails and three Mahi Mahi which made great ceviche.”

Mrs. Emery was all over these Sailfish today as she released this 150lbs. monster, clearly the largest of the week.

October 3, 2013

Shannon and Pat Emery joined the Wanderer for three memorable days of fishing. They braved the rainy season to get to Nosara, then waited for a break in the weather to go hunt big billfish.

Thought the tourists are scarce this time of year the big fish are still in the neighborhood…check out this high flying Blue Marlin that was waiting on the Wanderer.

After the Marlin release this dynamic fishing duo took on a swarm of Sailfish.

Shannon put the finishing touch on this great fishing performance by putting a big Yellowfin Tuna in the fishbox. Certainly these two have some excellent dining in their immediate future.

Shannon Emery met us at the St. Pete Boat Show last year and began planning his trip on the only time off he had from work: smack dab in the middle of the rainy season!

Normally we try to persuade clients to avoid September and October, but Shannon’s job is not normal: He is serving the US in Afganistan and this week in the only chance he and Pat could get away.

Here’s a few words from Shannon:

“Just wanted to drop you a note as we are getting ready to depart CR tomorrow morning. First the crew you have here are great. Jenny made sure the house was taken care of and our huge loads of laundry were cleaned and also made sure we had some great chow on the boat.”

“Also the fishing was great. I expected that with it not being the best time for billfishing that we may be lucky getting a sail or two. For day one we passed that with 2 sails. one blue marlin and a very tasty yellowfin. The crew of the Wanderer was awesome and I look forward to fishing again with them. I gave the guys copies of our videos and pics so you guys have them.”

“All in all we had a great stay and some great fishing. Now I just have to figure out how soon we can make it back to this little spot of paradise.”

August 25, 2013

Captain William was joined by Javier and Marino of Nosara Paradise Rentals for and end-of-year Yellowfin Tuna harvest. As we bring this epic season to a close, it’s super important to remember that the most important element of FishingNosara are the people.

A close second are the fish! Check out the girth on this, the largest of the 5 Yellowfin caught today:

The Marlin Magic of August returned again this year and the last month of the season was also the most productive.

Craig Sutton was joined by Arturo and Alejandro of Nosara Paradise Rentals for a day offshore on the mighty Wanderer and they posted the second Grand Slam of the Week: 2 Blue Marlin, 1 Black Marlin, and a Pacific Sailfish!

The Sailfish was first in the boat as Alejandro flexed his fishing muscles.

Around 11am two lines popped off and the Wanderer strapped in for a double Marlin battle.

Craig took hold of the Black Marlin while Arturo, Alejandro, and Alex combined to fight the Blue Marlin.

Both fish were released safely and the Grand Slam was completed! As a curtain call Craig brought in another Blue Marlin later in the day.

Owen West and his boys caught the fish of a lifetime on the famous Wanderer on August 20. Check out this beauty:
