It’s that time of year when the billfish are lighting it up! The Wanderer welcomed longtime Canadian charter Captain Rick Stanley and his bunch for an offshore billfish hunt and they had some incredible action.

The were raising marlins all day and got the hooks buried into two of the big blue ladies, but both managed to spit the hook and escape. However, the day was saved by a late-day 90lbs. Sailfish release.

Rough weather and slow fishing today, plus the Wanderer is on the hill for her monthly maintenance. Look for the great fishing to continue this week once the rain clears out.

Back in our Jacksonville shops Matty and Jack have put the final touches on the fleet of modded-out golf carts for use in Nosara. These vehicles are a ton of fun to drive and provide a great way for our guests to get out and enjoy the Nosara community.

Look for these vehicles to make their debut in early-March.

To all our Northeast Florida Friends,

Come and visit us at the Jacksonville Boat Show this weekend at Prime Osborn Convention Center. FishingNosara will have multiple booths and we will be giving away a Costa Rica Vacation to one lucky raffle winner. Come on out and show your support!

Meanwhile back in Nosara, the Explorer has quite a knack for catching lots of fish in a short time. Yesterday, Hoover caught on the four nice jacks and saw lots of turtles on just a 2.5 hr morning trip.

Captain Vibert has been a model of consistency this month, which began with a Marlin flyfishing hunt and also included a beautiful marlin release in mid-January.

The Master Captain finished January strong with client Chris and his group on the Cabo. In no time at all they caught a small cuberra snapper, a 6lbs. macarella, and five tasty Black tunas. Great work as always from the Cabo.

Our great friend Patrick Armbruster is no stranger to big-time reef fish as evidenced by this massive haul on a day trip with Captain David on the Explorer.

White Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Walleye Tuna, and the terrifying Cuberra Snapper…clearly the Explorer is game to battle all kinds of great tasting and hard-fightin’ reef fish.

Captain Craig Sutton, US Representative of FishingNosara, invited Matty and longtime Nosara client David Leibowitz for a day-long Wahoo hunt off the Atlantic Ledge east of Jacksonville, FL.

Without trusty First Mate Carl Schmidt, Craig took care of the gaff while calling on David to reel up the monsters and Matty to handle the boat. Though not the most seasoned crew the Fishtastic has ever seen, they got the job done to the tune of four big Wahoos.

We used our specialty Wahoo spread that includes skirted bonita strips, planer/spoon combo, and the infamous Cedar plug.

Rest assured that when we are not fishing in Costa Rica, the FishingNosara team is constantly engaging in this kind of “corporate field research”. Pura Vida!

LATE ADDITION: Jack wanted to get his bit in, so check out this awesome King Mackeral from August 2010. Captain Jack and his boat Drifter II are legendary in Northeast Florida much like his babies the Wanderer and Explorer are in Garza.

Captain Eduardo on the Nice n’ Tight had a great day with client Simon and his group. They started off with three nice Black Tunas and ended the trip with a 20lbs. Cuberra Snapper. Captain Eduardo is super busy with multiple trips this week on the Nice n’ Tight and the 31′ Sportsman.
