We were stoked to host a wedding fishing fiesta with Rob Anderson and his group from Dallas, TX. They split the party between the Wanderer and the Explorer. Both boats saw consistent action, but the Wanderer had the edge when it comes to good eatin’ keepers.

Captain William and the big blue beauty accounted for 10 Yellowfin tunas and five Jack Crevalles in the fishbox, while over on the Explorer Captain David’s group got a bunch of Bonita and a few feisty reef Snapper.

No matter how you score it, Mr. Anderson and his group certainly caught enough fish for the wedding party. Great work team!

Charles Barend and his family took a lovely 2.5 hour sunset cruise on the Explorer and had some nice results fishing with Captain David and Mate Carlos. They started with a Bonita on the planer/spoon to use for bait, and sure enough the better-tasting fish were hungry.

The filled the fishbox with three big Jack Crevalles and a tasty White tuna. Looks like the kids had a great time and this family fishing frenzy fed the fridge with fresh fish filets for all!

Wonderful sunset family fishing trip today on the Wanderer. Patrick Dollard and his family caught three Jack Crevalles and four Bonitos on a very relaxing three hour cruise.

Mix the tranquil conditions with some rod-bendin’ action and you have the recipe for a perfect Costa Rican evening. The big smile on her face says it all:

Respect to this young man who can handle his own fish for the picture. Another satisfied family from FishingNosara!

January 9, 2012

Calm seas and clear water meant that January 9 was a perfect day for a family snorkeling trip. Client Jens Mickstrom from Denmark booked the Explorer for a combination snorkeling/fishing excursion and had a great time with his wife and kids.

In these pictures the Danes are taking a break on a reef outcropping just a few feet below the surface. Excellent navigation by Captain David in showing these clients all the good underwater vistas all the while maintaining overwatch on the snorkelers.

Another safe and fun Safari Tour from FishingNosara!

Senior Eduardo Berrios has become a great friend to FishingNosara over the last year since his first in early January 2011. To celebrate the New Year he brought three generations of the Berrios family to the Explorer and they had a magical trip.

Captain David and Mate Pipio were honored to welcome Eduardo’s father and daughter and show them a great day of inshore action. Throughout the half day trip they caught three White Tunas, a Cierro Mackeral, a 20lbs. Blue Jack, a Barber Snapper and eight Bonitos. That’s a lot of rod-bending!

The highlight of the day was a 30lbs. Dorado that is unusually large for such shallow depth. Seems like he wandered inshore right into the Explorer‘s spread and Abullo Berrios knew exactly how to bring the big fish home. Great catches by all three generations of Berrios!

Check out the video that Eduardo posted to our Facebook  page from the boat! This 21st century stuff is getting out of hand folks.

Surrounded by family and with excellent fish in the box; Great way to end a fantastic year for FishingNosara!

December 19, 2011

Captain Eduardo took some time out of his schedule to take fishing the most important clients of all…his kids! They spent some time drifting over the reefs and each pulled in a nice Cabrilla (Broomtail Grouper).

Let’s remember our loved ones this Christmas and keep our eyes on what is really important: family, family, family. Way to go Captain Eduardo doing his part to Hook the Future.

The next morning was family fishing time for client Paul Tyler on the Explorer. They caught a pair of Bonitas on the devastating planer/spoon rig then anchored up to the reef to find some good eatin’.

The Jacksonville, FL angler and his family ripped in four awesome White tunas in a very short time. These tasty delicacies make for some of the best sushi in the world.  They also nailed this excellent Jack Crevalle.

Great work by Mr. Tyler and the indefatigable Explorer.

On November 27 Captain David welcomed client Ian Raymond to the Explorer for a combination snorkling-fishing trip in the afternoon. It was a productive day highlighted by five tough little Needlefish on ice.

Then another great family came along on November 30 and had a fantastic trip on the Explorer. More Dorado, more White Tunas, and more big smiles from happy kids. Great work muchachos!

On December 2 Captain David parked the Explorer on a nice pot of Dorados. Yummy sandwiches and steaks from these lovely Mahi-mahis and another great report from the excellent Super Panga.

November 24, 2011

Timothy Patrick Riley and his family closed out Thanksgiving day with an afternoon fishing trip on the Wanderer with Captain William. The skies turned overcast…combine that with the green water close to shore and you have the recipe for some Dorado devastation.

They caught a half-dozen of the tasty green morsels which should definitely make for a great feast. What a great bit of family fishing in Costa Rica to keep this week of great action going. Nice work Riley family!

November 22, 2011

She had a very special group with her this time: her family! The posse consisted of son Daniel, daughter Brooke, daughter-in-law Maria Yetty, and several of her grandkids visiting from the United States for Thanksgiving.

“Ever see a 15 year old kid who says he never caught anything trolling on the end of a mean Sail?” writes Richmond. “It was great.”

Awesome release by Oliver and Zeke Sheilds-Wald!

The Phipps posse released this Sailfish and lost a big Yellowfin tuna on the first day. On their second trip the group stayed inshore and had an absolute feeding frenzy on their hands.  Maria Yetty was the hot rod catching several tasty White tunas.

The big fish was this 20lbs. Amberjack, but they backed that catch up with a total of four White Tunas, five Jack Crevalles and a pair of nice Bonitas.

August 20, 2011

Our new friend Wade Boyken from Merritt Island, Florida began his first of multiple days of fishing on the Wanderer with a huge day of Sailfish strikes.  Captain William took them offshore where the Sailfish bite has been absolutely incredible the last few weeks.

Check out these great Sailfish releases:

By the end of this trip the Boyken bunch released 3 nice Sailfish. Wade has more trips coming this week. Stay tuned!
