Dean Hayes’ group split up between theย Discoverer andย Wandererย on the 15th.

Over on the big battleship theiy scored nice Sailfish releases augmented by tasty Yellowfin Tunas.

Dean sent us this nice email after the trips: “We had great offshore trips. We boated 8 sails in the two days we went offshore! Your captains and mates were all very efficient and hospitable. Thanks for a great experience!!”

Our great friend Ernest Willam Catsulis has returned to Nosara for Thanksgiving week, and he brought his family along for this fishing adventure.

Gavin Harper nagged this nice Sailfish release for the trophy case, and then Tyler, Amanda and Hannah brought home dinner with these excellent Yellowfin Tunas and Dorados.

Amanda Jennings on Facebook: “Amazing day fishing with [Mate] Kevin Sequeira at FishingNosara. Kids had a blast, memories of a lifetime. Many thanks to the entire team!!”

Texas angler Mike Dickerson had a challenging day on March 7, but he and Captain David emerged victorius. In Mike’s words:

“HI Craig,

“Here’s a photo of the nice Jack Crevelle I caught Saturday fishing with David. Most of the day was pretty blown out with big wind waves and whitecaps moving against the swell, but I caught this fish during a short lull in the wind in the only relatively protected bit of water we found all day.”

“I did have one bite from what David was certain was a big roosterfish because it ate a big bait and was tearing line off the reel for about 15 seconds before he broke me off on a reef. So I didn’t get my roosterfish, but this was a nice consolation prize.”

“David worked his butt off all day, and I couldnโ€™t have asked for a more heroic effort. Conditions were just very tough.”

“Thanks for accommodating me on this charter, and Iโ€™m happy to provide a very positive reference should you need it.”

John Shellhorn and Jim Freyburger fished with Captain Carlos on the Discoverer on February 25th.

They scored a Sailfish release early in the trip, then moved inshore for a great Rooster Fish release.

They rejoined the battleship on the 26th and finished off their time in Nosara with this amazing Cubera Snapper catch and release.

Here is the email John sent us after the trip:

Hi Craig!

Finally back in country and wanted to thank you for a great trip.

My wife and her friend Mary had never caught a billfish and on the Wanderer, caught four each in two days including a double hook-up. They were thrilled and will be talking about that for a long time.

I caught a nice 38 pound rooster and my friend Jim caught a nice Cuberra snapper while fishing the last two days with Captain Carlos on the Discoverer. Although we only fished a half day on our last day, our group total for the four days of fishing came to 13 sails, 6 tuna, 1 rooster and 1 snapper.

You guys have an excellent operation and we had an awesome trip! Your staff are incredible at their jobs and your facility offers world class fishing! It was great to get to spend a little time with you and we are really appreciative of an awesome trip. Will continue to spread the word (and pictures).

Pura Vida!

Captain Fico delivered the goods for Corey LaChance’s group on February 3 with some thrilling Sailfish releases.

Guys, it’s called “release” for a reason!

They worked up their appetite’s while swimming, so it’s fortunate that they nagged these meat fish for sustenance.

They kept the Dorados and Yellowfins but released the Cubera Snappers:

They retired to Nosara Paradise Rentals for a nice soak in the pool, followed by a mammoth fish feast.

Here is a sample from Josie LaChance’s Facebook post:

Pura Vida!
โ€œpure lifeโ€; to live a peaceful, simple existence full of happiness, satisfaction, well-being, and deep love for nature, family, and friends.

What an incredible fishing trip with friends to Nosora, Costa Rica.

We ate great food.. we had a ton of fun… and caught a few fish.

โœ”๏ธ7 sailfish
โœ”๏ธ5 Yellowfin tuna
โœ”๏ธ3 cubera snapper
โœ”๏ธ2 mahi mahi

We will never forget โ€œthe one that got away… the fish of a lifetime.โ€
The guys worked on a gigantic yellowfin tuna for 3 hours…. as soon as we got a good look it it… the line snapped.
The guys are still very sensitive about this.
Iโ€™m not sure how big it was… every day it gets bigger and bigger. Today the guys are estimating it was a good 400lbs. Ha.

Even though the fish of a lifetime got away we still had a great time fishing!
Sam and Cory swam with Sailfish…
Allison and Cindy went offshore for their first time… and caught a sailfish.

Most importantly, Jon caught dinner!

Pura Vida!

Theย Discoverer kept up the strong early season fishing as Captain Carlos reports several nice Yellowfin Tuna catches.

Great work by Jon Cira’s group on this productive outing.

“Craig/Matty,”
“I wanted to thank you guys for a great trip. In 3 days fishing, we landed over 60 tuna (many released), 2 marlin, 2 dorado and a sail. The tuna were school size (perfect for my teenage daughter & her friend) up to about 45 lbs. We fed people in our condo complex, our property manager and our taxi drivers! The dorado went towards a pile of fish tacos.”
“Your captains and mates were excellent, great personalities, worked hard and kept the boats very clean. Maria’s lunches were fantastic!”
“We hope to be back and when we do, we will be fishing with you!”
“Thanks again for helping make this such a great experience!”

Stephen Dziadul celebrated his birthday in style with Captain William on August 23.

The fishing stayed strong for these Florida anglers, with multiple Marlin strikes.

They also scored Dorados for dinner:

“Craig, Just wanted to thank you and Matty for a great trip, Friday Aug 23rd was my Birthday and we released 2 marlins…best present ever. We are booking are trip for next year this week, Thanks Again Stephen Dziadul”

“So here is how day 4 went,” wrote Steve Betz.

“We made a plan. I had already gotten a Sail so we all wanted Scott to get his wish fish. A Rooster.”

“First bait in the water and less than a minute and game on! The dude caught Foghorn Leghorn!”

“They all decided I should go next. I guess I had Snapper on the brain. I came up with my first Pacific Yellow Tail Snapper. That’s OK someone has to put dinner in the boat.”

“Lisa was next. It also didn’t take long and Lisa landed a beautiful Rooster.”

“Now it was Karen turn and landed her first sail. Yes Rafael Rios it was bigger than mine.”

“Great times with great friends! First time in a long time I have felt this blessed. Thank you Charlie Phillips and Laura Anne for inviting us to share this experience.”

Charlie replied: “We are both so happy yโ€™all took a chance and a plane ride down with us. Descriptions never do it justice, so much to do and see down here. Congratulations on fine catches all around and still a few to check off on the next trip.”

Charlie continued after they got home: “Back from Nosara Paradise Rentals, Following one of the best trips down there I have had.”

“Fishing was as always awesome. Quality fish, good boats and equipment and highly talented crews. Nothing better than sharing the experience as close friends catch dream fish in foreign lands.”

“I did more exploring on my own this year than in my past trips and enjoyed every second of it. Every dirt path, Iโ€™d ask Laura Anne Phillips, wonder whatโ€™s down there and away we go. These ventures found me some intimate encounters with wildlife and I will make this a part of every trip going forward.”

“Costa Rica as a country is beautiful, the scenery, the wildlife and views are magical. But I have to say, the people in the small communities are equally beautiful. Patient and accepting of visitors, kind and helpful at every opportunity. I enjoy the culture as much as the scenery I believe.”

“Steve Betz, Karen Richey Betz, Lisa Throop, and Scott Throop; We enjoyed your company and hope you had as much fun as we did. If you now feel comfortable leading a group of your own down, then we have done our jobs.”

“Also great seeing friends from Florida down at the same time and sharing fish stories with them. Capt Rick Ryals so good seeing you. Craig Sutton always a pleasure and we canโ€™t wait to be back down.”

The Explorer delivered the trip of a lifetime for Jess King and Elizabeth Rasch on August 22. Here’s how she told the story on social media:

“Our last day in Costa Rica was an all day off shore fishing trip, and it was one of the best ones! Elizabeth Rasch and I both caught a Blue Marlin!!”

“Hers was 450 lbs and the biggest catch of the day out of all the boats! Took her an hour to get it in!!”

“Shortly after I got another Yellow Fin Tuna!!”

“This has been the most amazing trip of a lifetime!! I will be returning!!”
