Marie Cooper’s group stepped up to the Discoverer on June 20 and Robert scored a true-fish-of-a-lifetime with this stunning Blue Marlin release.
“Hi, Craig – I just posted a review on YELP but it doesn’t completely convey our trip…so here goes:”
“If you go to Costa Rica, do it the right way and have Craig and his team work with you to give you the experience of a lifetime!”
“First, the accommodations – we stayed in Casa Bonita. It was adorable – nice kitchen, fridge to keep those beers chilled and a beautiful patio (front & back). The surrounding gardens are gorgeous with lush, tropical landscaping and it feels like you’re in the jungle! The location is within walking distance to restaurants & shops!”
“Then the staff/team – OMG! Javier (and everyone in the office) as well as the drivers, boat captains, first mates — all treated us like royalty! They were accommodating in every way (they even helped us understand colones!). If we wanted to arrange a tour, we just stopped in the office and they handled everything — literally everything! Like clockwork, the van would be there the next morning to take us on our journey! They suggested restaurants to cook our catch (and we went to see more than once — that’s how good they were!). But let me get more specific:”
“Fishing! Really what can I say – we went the first day were were there. Van picked us up right at our room and took us to the beach where we got on a panga (new one for me!) out to the Harvester. I got a nice Wahoo and a Tuna! Captain William took excellent care of us, and along with an awesome lunch (prepared by Maria — who should give cooking classes to guests because I’d sign right up for that!). The guys in our group went out a second time and snagged their dream of Marlin and Sailfish.”
“We did the horseback tour with Eduardo. Again, not enough words to say about him and his family! The horses were picked for each of us (I got a nice calm one!). We went up and down the mountains, valley’s, etc. and ended up at beautiful waterfalls where Eduardo was sweet enough to take photos of us so we have memories of a lifetime! Then lunch — oh my! — Traditional in every way, cooked by his Mom! We needed a little siesta afterward BUT we hopped back on our horses and Eduardo finished the tour. He told us about his family, how they came to have this estate and he explained all along the way about foliage, the giant tree, and how his horse really doesn’t like the “iguana spot”! Another expedition I’l never forget!”
“The Pacific Ocean is literally right down the street and is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. This was a trip of a lifetime for us — and it did not disappoint!”
“Craig – thank you and your awesome team — for vacation memories that will last a lifetime (or until our next visit!)”
On May 21 we had a weird swell direction in Garza Bay, so we prudently moved the fleet over to nearby Playa Carillo for the day.
Captain William isn’t afraid, and he was more than happy to take Cameron Frowick’s group of Tyler, TX-based anglers.
Meredith Frowick wrote this nice post: “The day was amazing! Went out in the Pacific Ocean and we all caught something.”
“All together got 3 yellow fin tuna and 1 Mahi Mahi. Thank you Nosara Paradise Rentals for the fun time. We look forward to 2 more days!” โ with Kyle and Abigail Brookshear and Cameron Frowick.”
Back in 2012 we hosted the Ganoe family of Jacksonville, FL as the winners of the initial FishingNosara Family Cup presented by Jax Kayak.
Little did we know then that Maegan Ganoe would chose Nosara as the spot to get married to her now-husband Jose Morales:
Of course no trip to Nosara is complete without a fishing mission, and the newlyweds took to the Harvester on May 17 for and incredible day of blue water action.
The headliner of this trip was a big Blue Marlinย that snagged THREE! baits simultaneously…fortunately Mate Wilson took command of the cockpit and kept all three anglers on the same page.
What a monstrous fish, and a great release by Captain Alex.
“Thank you Alex for putting us on this huge Blue Marlin to celebrate Dads birthday & wrap up our wedding week here in Nosara! It took Jose, Daniel & I over 30min to reel it in! ?? Blue Marlin off our bucket list”
Later the mother of the bride Melita Ganoe nagged dinner in the form of this nice Dorado:
Best of luck to the happy new couple from FishingNosara.
Merritt and Brian Wruble, Nicole and Bubba Miles, Glenn and Dahni Bloomfield enlisted the Explorer for a massive day of great Yellowfin Tuna scores.
“We had such an amazing trip!!” Merritt posted. “Thank you to the staff, captains and deck hands!!! You all went above and beyond to make sure we had a great trip with great memories !! Thank you!!!ย Canโt wait to start planning our next trip down there!!!“
The team endured a Marlin drought in mid April, but the keen-eyed Captain Carlos broke the streak on April 29 as the Discoverer nagged this awesome Blue Marlin release with anglers Dan and Natalia Kenel, Paul and Dee Wirsing and Mike and Gayle Fuchs.
They also nagged this sweet Sailfish release:
“Just wanted to send a note letting you know we had a wonderful time fishing on the Discoverer with Captain Carlos and Kevin.”
“In three days we caught one sailfish, one Marlin, and a tuna. Lost the other Marlin at the boat โฆ but it was still a great day!”
“You all did a great job and we had a great time!”
Legendary Carolina angler Dan Johnson was fishing hard during and after the Ship of Fools tournament, and on the 9th he scored two nice Sailfish on the Explorer.
The Explorer also had Blue marlins in the spread but wouldnโt bite, and later nabbed two Groupers and other bottom fish.
“Great day with the fishing team always. Thank you. Dan Johnson”
Tony Loff and his son enlisted the Explorer for a great day of offshore blue water action on March 30.
We got this nice email from Tony after the trip:
“Here are a few pics of the fish we caught with Fico and Johny. Those guys were awesome. They probably told you but we caught 2 sails, 2 mahi, and had 1 blue marlin and 2 sails chase the teasers to the boat.”
“Unfortunately they did not hit the throw back bait. We also lost 2 mahi. On a final note, the lunch was excellent. Thanks for the good time.”
Rick Noonan returned on the 10th and continued to score Sailfish releases.
Here’s the email Rick sent us after his trip:
“Craig,”
“Wanted to say Thank You for putting me together with Fico. Not very chatty but he put me 10 sailfish (8 landed) 1 Blue Marlin (landed) and a baby Wahoo (dinner).”
“My first billfish experience and I was blown away. A Danish buddy joined me on Saturday, zero saltwater fishing experience, as it turned out he got to fight the Marlin (my bucket list fish). Fish of a lifetime for him. That said I will be back to find that Marlin again.”
