One of my best friends Jacksonville angler Chetri Dimitroff was aboard the Wanderer on May 28th and caught his first ever Pacific Blue Marlin. The fight lasted seventeen minutes and ended with a safe live release. Chetri represents FishingNosara at fishing tournaments around Florida; last year he placed in the Kingbuster 400. This trip, Chetri and his posse had an awesome time and caught nice tattooed sunburns.

Most recently a gang of anglers from Jacksonville, FL were on the blue water and showed the world how we get down in Northeast Florida. Gary Newman got things rolling with this spectacular Striped Marlin:
Then was followed shortly after with another grand Rooster Fish for Chuck Darner:
Then Bill Wilderotter nailed this MASSIVE Broomtail Grouper…70lbs. if its an ounce!
Things are dialed in on the Wanderer, but hurry up and reserve your dates as the calendar is filling up fast. The Marlin and Sails aren’t going anywhere…
But you can’t get them unless you book the Wanderer today. Pura Vida Amigos!

On April 7th the Grove party was all over the Dorados and then finished their day off strong with a late-afternoon Black Marlin release.
Even though the month started off slowly, great crews like the Wanderer’s have the skills to keep clients on fish and fish on hooks. Now that the Marlin have showed up big time, there in no reason not to expect more awesome trips.

Captain William has the Wanderer locked in and has cemented her reputation as the king of the hill! Captain William had several awesome days fishing this month and the clients have been grinning from ear to ear!
On March 26th Manuel (Concierge Numero Uno at Nosara Paradise Rentals) and Craig Sutton released a Black marlin, one Sailfish and lost a nice dorado.
The marlin was going absolutely crazy, moving from one teaser to the other one and spanking it with his bill. One of the teasers broke clean off ! I spent 42 minutes to release this fish, albeit with a few water breaks. This marked the beginning of some great billfish action on the Wanderer in March and April.
Most of the days I fished in March we were raising several Sails and releasing 2 to 4 on half days.

With the Marlin Bite in full force, clients Ted and Linda Thompson booked the Wanderer on January 15th and was at the reel for a double Marlin release: A 200lbs. Black Marlin and a 250lbs. Blue Marlin!
She went looking for the grand slam, but was satisfied enough with the two big boys and a 20lbs. Dorado. It was a great day for the boat, client, and crew!

First Mate Alex with Client David Guido and a magnificent Pacific Striped Marlin!

With all the excitement surrounding the launch of FishingNosara’s newest boat, the Wanderer, let’s take a moment here and welcome her top-notch crew. Captain William Barrantes Mendoza and mates Alex and David are all lifelong anglers with deep local roots, and believe me they are more than capable of running such a fine boat.
After releasing four out of the nine Marlin raised in late November, the Wanderer set her sights on more of the big boys. On November 22nd Captain William was joined by Craig and Matty of FishingNosara.com and Nosara Paradise Rentals’ head builder Danilo for a 3/4 day of Marlin hunting. Sure enough one more raised, caught, and released for the Wanderer, this one approximately 350lbs.
Chris Savitz of Jacksonville was aboard with Craig and Captain William for several fishing trips in late November. Mr. Savitz was part of the team that rigged the Wanderer and it was quite a thrill for him to catch this massive Dorado. Now, Mr. Savitz is not an especially big guy, but you got to love that this fish is taller than Chris.

Check out this excellent Sailfish caught by our good friend and Jacksonville angler Dan Parker and his wife Charlene:
Captain Dan Parker and his wife Charlene started off the second day with three 15lbs. yellowfin tunas and three 20lbs. dorados. A few minutes later a 40lbs. wahoo hit the fish box, there was only one thing left to get. Sure enough, a 250lbs. Marlin came tearing through the spread and Mr. Parker hooked him up, completing a trip that saw a little bit of everything.

Captain Vibert got The Outdoors Show team onboard for one of the most memorable catches of the year so far. Crewed by Vibert Blanche Jr. and David Barrantes, Captain Vibert took the Cabo inshore first, sight casting around for the shallow fish. They left the area only after hauling in a 50lbs. Cuberra that according to Craig Sutton “hit the lure like a Buick!”
Around 2:00pm they headed out for deeper water. They trolled around for less than a hour before a magnificent 400lbs. black marlin hit the spread. Craig hooked it, then Kevin Faver fought the great fish for 40 minutes, highlighted by a 35 second stretch of above-water motion. After a grueling fight, and a long week of fishing, Mr. Faver had caught himself a big-time Costa Rican black marlin!
“Everytime I think about that fish, a big smile creeps across my face.”
-Kevin Faver, one week after the catch
