Senior Eduardo Berrios has become a great friend to FishingNosara over the last year since his first in early January 2011. To celebrate the New Year he brought three generations of the Berrios family to the Explorer and they had a magical trip.

Captain David and Mate Pipio were honored to welcome Eduardo’s father and daughter and show them a great day of inshore action. Throughout the half day trip they caught three White Tunas, a Cierro Mackeral, a 20lbs. Blue Jack, a Barber Snapper and eight Bonitos. That’s a lot of rod-bending!

The highlight of the day was a 30lbs. Dorado that is unusually large for such shallow depth. Seems like he wandered inshore right into the Explorer‘s spread and Abullo Berrios knew exactly how to bring the big fish home. Great catches by all three generations of Berrios!

Tjhe Wanderer has gone offshore with great success the last few days, but client David and his group stayed inshore this morning on an early trip and had a lot of fun action.

By mid-morning they had caught a few dozen Bonitas, 4 Jack Crevalle and 3 Gilguero snappers. Very productive work in a short amount of time!

Mark Shaw enlisted Captian David and the Explorer for a fishing trip today that took them all around the Garza area and brought great fish for the table and the trophy room. In the morning they stayed inshore and around 9:30 bent the rod with this nice White Tuna.

With dinner in the box, Captain David headed offshore to blue water where Mr. Shaw had chances at lots of fish. Around noon they lost a big Dorado and soon after a sailfish. A hour of near-misses passed, then the fish of a lifetime came barrel-rolling through the spread.

Mate Pipio saw him first and alertly pitched a rigged ballyhoo down the exhaust alley. The Black Marlin showed his bill as he snatched the bait, and Mark buckled in for a wild ride.

After 20 minutes of combat this 200lbs. Black Marlin gave up the fight; Perfect bill and release by Pipio to ensure the safety of the fish and angler.

The Explorer proves once again that big billfish don’t care how big the boat is, so long as the right Captain, angler, and tackle are on the scene to take care of the job. Great fish, great release, great trip for Mark Shaw!

The next morning was family fishing time for client Paul Tyler on the Explorer. They caught a pair of Bonitas on the devastating planer/spoon rig then anchored up to the reef to find some good eatin’.

The Jacksonville, FL angler and his family ripped in four awesome White tunas in a very short time. These tasty delicacies make for some of the best sushi in the world. They also nailed this excellent Jack Crevalle.

Great work by Mr. Tyler and the indefatigable Explorer.

On November 27 Captain David welcomed client Ian Raymond to the Explorer for a combination snorkling-fishing trip in the afternoon. It was a productive day highlighted by five tough little Needlefish on ice.

Then another great family came along on November 30 and had a fantastic trip on the Explorer. More Dorado, more White Tunas, and more big smiles from happy kids. Great work muchachos!

On December 2 Captain David parked the Explorer on a nice pot of Dorados. Yummy sandwiches and steaks from these lovely Mahi-mahis and another great report from the excellent Super Panga.

Good early action on the Wanderer today with client Courtney Whitehurst and her friends. They staying inshore where the water was coral green and the group boated fifteen Bonitas and a nice Jack on just a 2.5 hr trip.

That’s a fish on every 9 minutes if you’re scoring at home. Great work ladies!

Chuck Darner and Bill Wilderotter finished their week of excellent fishing with Captain David and Mate Pipio on the Explorer and they dialed up a fish feast for the ages. David kept the barroom brawler on the fish while Pipio broke in the new forward casting platform…the result was a cornucopia of marine eatin’.

They started at 9am. The first fish was a 35 lbs. Dorado, then they backed that up with a 25 lbs. Cubera Snapper, a 25 lbs. Amberjack, and a nice White Tuna.

The Jacksonville anglers finished off their trip by adding a Macarela, two Jack Crevalles, and four beefy Bonitas. Excellent end to an amazing week in Nosara…these guys are on top!

Tom Cavin and his posse from Jacksonville, FL had fantastic day on the Super Panga Explorer this morning. They started with 2 white tunas and then wanted to see what was lurking on the bottom. Guest what?

Nice 60lbs. Rooster fish. Of course this fish was safely released after a few minutes later. Great work by Mr. Cavin who won this fishing trip in a raffle at the Ancient City Kingfish Tournament last year in St. Augustine (see below).

Captain David took clients Michael and Sarah out on the Explorer for a 2.5 hour morning trip. They found hot action at a very famous reef just off of Garza called Picha Padre. On this very short trip they caught a nice white tuna and three useful black tunas.

The Explorer always delivers action from big billfish to feisty inshore species. Another great performance from Captain David.

Undeterred by the recent slow bite inshore, the Wanderer stayed inside and had some nice action. Using a combination of topwater casting and low-speed trolling Captain William delivered the ‘Triple-Deuce” of tunas: 2 Yellowfin, 2 White, and 2 Black Tunas.

Our great friend Patrick Armbruster is no stranger to big-time reef fish as evidenced by this massive haul on a day trip with Captain David on the Explorer.

White Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Walleye Tuna, and the terrifying Cuberra Snapper…clearly the Explorer is game to battle all kinds of great tasting and hard-fightin’ reef fish.
